Somewhere between a sport wagon and a crossover looms the 2019 Volvo XC60, but don't chalk that up as a negative thing. It's actually a subtle mix between the iconic Volvo wagons of yesteryear and a look at the present and future of the company. Beautiful on the inside and sculpted on the exterior, the XC60 is a solid entrant in the luxury crossover segment. Add in legendary Volvo safety standards and the XC60 has all the makings of an instant classic. Here's a look at all it has to offer in 2019.

Trim Levels

For the 2019 model year, the Volvo XC60 comes in three trim levels: Momentum, R-Design, and Inscription. Once you select which trim you want, you'll also choose a T5 or T6, which is indicative of the two available engines. On the Momentum trim, the XC60 boasts 18-inch alloy wheels, chrome accents, dual exhaust, and a panoramic sunroof. The R-Design trim adds dual integrated tailpipes and 19-inch five-spoke alloy wheels, while the Inscription gets 19-inch 10-spoke black aluminum alloy wheels and an exclusive front grille.Make a statement with nine exterior colors for the XC60. These paint jobs include Bright Silver, Crystal White, Denim Blue, Fusion Red, Ice White, Onyx Black, Osmium Gray, Pine Gray, and Bursting Blue.

Engine

If you want raw power, look no further than the 2019 Volvo XC60. The T5 XC60 comes equipped with a turbocharged 2.0-liter engine that's good for 250 horsepower and up to 258 pound-feet of torque. For a performance-driven ride, upgrade to the T6. Under the hood, the T6 boasts a turbocharged and supercharged 2.0-liter engine that supplies 316 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque. With this engine, the XC60 goes from 0-60 in just 6.4 seconds, topping out at 130 mph. Both engines come with a standard eight-speed automatic transmission with a manual shift mode and front-wheel drive for the first time. All-wheel drive is available on the T5 and standard on the T6.

Performance

Despite the XC60's penchant for performance, it still offers some of the best fuel economy in its class. With the T5 engine and front-wheel drive, the XC60 gets up to 29 mpg on the highway and 22 mpg in the city. Added traction from all-wheel drive doesn't affect efficiency all that much, as the T5 still pumps out 27 mpg on the highway and 20 mpg in the city. The T6 supplies 27 mpg on the highway and 19 mpg in the city.

Interior

The 2019 XC60 can comfortably seat up to five passengers and still provide 22.4 cubic feet of room in the rear. For more space, fold down the second-row seats to unveil 63.3 cubic feet of cargo volume.
