2019 Volvo XC90

Bigger, better, faster, stronger is the slogan of the all-new 2019 Volvo XC90. As Volvo's flagship SUV, it's ready to tackle the stiff competition of the luxury SUV crossover market. This year, the XC90 sheds some weight by eliminating the Momentum Plus and Convenience packages from the lineup. However, it replaces these options with some sumptuous features, including heated seats and four-zone climate control on select models, as well as premium sound for its entry-level and midrange trims. Add it all up, and this sophisticated, modern vehicle is the perfect vehicle for just about anything.

Trim Levels

Volvo goes with three trim levels for the 2019 Volvo XC90: Momentum, R-Design, and Inscription. These are also further subdivided into the T5 and T6 trims, which signify which engine lies under the hood.The Momentum offers a number of great standard features, including heated power outside mirrors, 18-inch five-spoke alloy wheels, a panoramic sunroof, and rear spoiler. Courtesy of an exclusive body kit, the R-Design sticks out from the crowd, while also adding 20-inch alloy wheels. The Inscription rounds out the lineup with exclusive 20-inch wheels and dual integrated exhaust.Choose from nine colors for your XC90, such as Ice White, Crystal White, Bright Silver, Osmium Grey, Onyx Black, Luminous Sand, Pine Grey, Maple Brown, and Denim Blue.

Engine

For a perfect balance of efficiency and power, the T5's 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine gets the job done with 250 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. The T6 goes with a turbocharged and supercharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that's good for 316 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque.Both options come with an eight-speed automatic transmission and either front-wheel or all-wheel drive.

Performance

Even with its large stature, the XC90 offers superb fuel economy. The T5 boasts up to 29 mpg on the highway and 21 mpg in the city. Although you'll get more power with the T6, it doesn't skimp on efficiency, offering 26 mpg on the highway and 19 mpg in the city.

Interior

Thanks to available third-row seats, the 2019 Volvo XC90 can accommodate up to seven passengers comfortably if you choose. Even at full passenger capacity, the SUV still provides 15.4 cubic feet of space in the rear. If you need more space, fold the third-row seats flat to unveil 41.8 cubic feet of storage volume. Still need more room? Fold the second- and third-row seats down for a generous 85.7 cubic feet. The best part is that you can fold these seats flat with the touch of a button by the rear liftgate.A 9-inch touch screen controls the Volvo Sensus infotainment system for easy access to navigation, radio, apps, and more. Other awesome features include Bluetooth, voice recognition, leather seating, dual-zone or four-zone climate control, and reclining rear seats.

Safety Features

The 2019 Volvo XC90 earns a five-star safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration thanks to a plethora of active and driver-assist safety features. One of the most stunning safety features of the XC90 is City Safety. Using a mix of radar and cameras, City Safety warns you of obstacles, pedestrians, motorists, and cyclists in your path.
